Highlighting Awareness of Electively Home-educated Children
Numbers of electively home-educated children have substantially increased in Islington throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. These children can remain hidden from other services; therefore increased safeguarding vigilance is important. If these children come to surgery, it is an ideal opportunity for GPs to discuss any concerns about coronavirus and attending school versus the risks of the child not attending. Parents are under no obligation to engage with the local authority, so the publich health team requests practice staff to be mindful they may be the only professional seeing that child.
