NHS England commissioned iPLATO to support the delivery of cervical screening text reminders using the messaging platform iPLATO Connect.
Currently, iPLATO extracts consenting patients’ mobile numbers from GP clinical systems and codes the message delivery status into the woman’s clinical record.
With effect from 17 January 2022, iPLATO will extract mobile phone numbers of eligible women from the NHS Patient Demographic Service (PDS/Spine) and not the GP clinical system. However, for consenting practices, the read coding of message delivery status will continue. This follows a successful three-week pilot across 50 practices in London.
As a result, the Cervical Screening Text Reminder Data Sharing Agreement between practices and NHSEI will expire on 16 January 2022.
Practices are not required to take any action in response to this change. A report of the pilot is available in the attached document.
