Update on Bowel Scope Screening

Following the outcome of a UK National Screening Committee submission to the Secretary of State, NHS England and Improvement (NHSE/I) will be permanently discontinuing bowel scope as part of the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

This decision was reached following a pause to the programme due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For the full details of this decision, see the bowel scope letter to primary care below.

People whose bowel scope screening appointment was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will be offered a Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) home-testing kit from April 2021. See below the letter that will be sent to these individuals in January 2021.
