Service description

The Royal Free Hospital phlebotomy service remains open for urgent tests and for patients who need to come in for regular tests such as medication monitoring.

Please note: this is no longer a walk-in service and appointments must be booked in advance.


Order a blood test

Email a t-Quest form in PDF format to RFL (see Downloads for instructions)

  • Ensure the patient's name (family name, given/first name) is included in the subject line of your email. 
  • AFTER the request form has been sent, ask the patient to make a booking online via the website (see below). 
  • Ask your patients to bring their confirmation text/email to their appointment as they will not be able to enter our hospitals without this. Please do not share this email address with patients.

Booking an appointment

Patients can book an appointment online via the website booking form, AFTER the request form has been sent. 

  • See locations below for full details of the clinics, including opening times and how to book an appointment. 
  • Patients without internet access can book by phone, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
    • t: 020 7443 9757 press option 4 for blood tests.
  • Appointments are reserved for patients who are not infectious with Covid-19.
  • For priority requests, please give the patient a paper tQuest blood test request form with “SAME DAY” printed on the form or to be validated with a stamp.

Informing patients about their visit

  • Patients must have a copy of their confirmation email/text to be able to enter the hospital.
  • See Downloads for an AccuRx template with a suggested text to send to patients. 
  • Please ask your patients to attend their phlebotomy appointment with a face covering.
  • Patients should arrive no more than 10 minutes before booked time.
  • Patients should not book or attend an appointment if they have symptoms of Covid-19.

Please note: walk-in patients will not be attended to.
