Bladder and Bowel Care Service

The Bladder and Bowel Care Service is a nurse-led team, providing assessment, treatment and support to adults and children with bowel and bladder problems.

Conditions that can be treated by this service include:

  • overactive bladder
  • functional, stress and urge incontinence
  • faecal incontinence
  • neurological bladder and bowel incontinence
  • nocturia
  • nocturnal enuresis
  • constipation.

This service teaches pelvic floor exercises, bladder drill, intermittent catheterisation, toilet training and provide products to manage incontinence.

Islington Clinics are held at the following health cantres: 

  • Hornsey Rise 
  • Northern Health Centre
  • River Place Health Centre

Eligibility criteria


  • registered with an Islington GP
  • aged 5+ years, for day or night bladder problems
  • aged 3+ years, for help with ongoing management to constipation and or delayed toileting


  • Children aged <3 years
