North Camden Crisis House

Residential care and treatment to people in mental health crisis.

Six-bed unit with en-suite rooms for men and women. Patients can also attend the Acute Day Unit housed in the same building that offers one-to-one and group therapy.

Service is staffed 24/7.

Team provides a comprehensive mental health assessment, medication review, informal counselling, occupational activity, and group therapy.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

Camden or Islington resident, 18+, registered with Camden GP.

Suitable for:

  • Those presenting with an acute crisis where resolution is assessed to be achievable within a defined period of time (maximum 2 weeks)
  • Those in mental health crisis but not emergencies

Exclusions

  • Treatment will not include PMVA intervention in routine circumstances and service users are required to agree to work with staff to maintain their safety
  • Homeless people or people with other protracted social problems are not excluded from admission, but management of longer-term social problems cannot be a primary reason for admission and cannot delay discharge
  • Treatment center does not accept people with a primary need for alcohol detoxification
  • Treatment center is not deemed to be a place of safety under the Mental Health Act 1983
