Domiciliary Phlebotomy Service: Barnet

The CLCH community phlebotomy service is offered to registered housebound patients (both permanent or temporarily). Housebound status will be subject to regular review and, if the patient becomes more mobile, they will be discharged from the caseload. If appropriate, they will be offered clinic-based treatment options as an alternative.

Registered housebound patients will be visited to take blood samples for INR visit within two days of referral. A visit will take place within three days for urgent bloods and five days for routine bloods.

The service sits within Barnet Planned Care.

Eligibility criteria


  • registered housebound patients in Barnet.


  • patients who are able to get to clinics, their GP, or walk-in centres.

Referral methods: Email

All referrals are to be received through the single point of access (SPoA) via 

GPs should identify if the referral is Urgent or Routine and the SPoA process as appropriate. Where referrals are incomplete/provide insufficient information, the referral will be rejected. 

Incomplete referrals include those not including patient name, address, D.O.B, NHS Number, NOK and Access Information. 

Any referrals requiring re-occurring blood samples which do not include an end date will be deemed incomplete.
