Service update on 15 February 2021:  

Due to current restrictions, only Royal Free Hospital patients are able to access this service face-to-face and may only do so when already attending the hospital for a clinical appointment. Telephone consultations can be offered to cancer patients in Camden who aren’t under the care of the Royal Free Hospital for their cancer treatment. Telephone consultations can also be offered to any additional relatives/family members who are currently unable to accompany a Royal Free cancer patient to their appointments.


Drop-in service managed by a Macmillan cancer information specialist and supported by trained volunteers. Information is available in languages other than English, plus audio CDs and DVDs. 

Information and support about:

  • specific cancers, their treatments and effects
  • financial, social and practical issues
  • how cancer affects your life
  • complementary therapies and how to access them
  • local support groups
  • cancer prevention and healthy lifestyles
  • referrals to the Macmillan/CAB benefits service
  • referrals to the cancer counsellors 
  • referrals to the chaplaincy service

 


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

  • all cancer patients in Camden, regardless of whether they are patients or not at the Royal Free Hospital
  • anyone, including relatives and friends, affected by cancer
