Speech and language therapists are embedded within a range of specialist services across Camden:

  • adults with a neurological condition such as stroke, brain injury, or progressive neurologies: refer to Camden Neurology and Stroke Service 
  • adults with mental health diagnoses who are currently patients of Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust (including Camden Memory Clinic) may be referred via the 'SLT in Mental Health' referral form (see blue 'Download Form' button below). This service also runs social communication skills groups for people with a diagnosis of an Autistic Spectrum Condition who may also have mental health problems 
  • adults with learning disabilities: refer to Camden Learning Disability Service.  See also the Camden Learning Disabilities Service on the Camden Borough website.
  • adults who stammer: may be signposted to self-refer to the Michael Palin Service 
  • adults with altered voice quality (eg hoarseness): refer to ENT initially, who can refer into specialist voice clinics 
  • adults with other swallowing or communication difficulties relating to other chronic health conditions and/or multi-pathologies (eg frailty, dementia, COPD): refer to the Integrated Primary Care service
