The Shape Up with Spurs 12 week, multi component programme combines healthy living, behaviour change workshops and physical activity/ sport sessions.
Shape up with Spurs will be targeting male Haringey residents, as this group is less likely to engage with adult weight management services. Sessions will be held throughout the week (day/evening) including a workshop (30 minutes) and physical activity/sport session (60 minutes), Participants will also be able to access the core Shape up with Spurs physical activity timetable and other programmes delivered across THF.
Healthy living: healthy balance, eat well plate, healthy swaps, fats and sugars, reading labels, healthy recipes.
Physical activity/sport sessions: can include HITT, circuit based, strength and conditioning, football (walking football), boxercise. The sessions will offer a variety throughout the 12 weeks, recognising the need for participants to increase their physical activity levels. All sessions will be tailored to the individuals need and level of fitness.
Throughout the programme participants will be set weekly diet and physical activity group challenges, from previous delivery of male only Shape up Sessions the competitive element can have a positive impact on group cohesion and social connection. Participants will have access to materials and practical tools, each week participants will be sent a home workout, motivational tips and positive group feedback.
